Job Description:

The part-time mosquito lab assistant is an ideal job for teens 14+. The assistant works under the lab manager to complete mosquito identification and trap counts from traps throughout the county. Will be expected to learn details about mosquito species and identify them appropriately. Work will be done in the lab, with the expectation of being seated for extended periods of time.   

 Basic Duties:

• Identifies and counts mosquitoes from traps set in the county.
• Accurately records data on mosquitoes in each trap.
• Prepares specified mosquitoes for testing.

Qualifications:

• Must have at least an 8th grade education.
• Must be able to work consistently throughout the Summer.
• Has the ability to work well with others.

Job Hours:

Average of 20 – 25 hours of work a week.

Hours tend to be lowest in June and will increase throughout the summer.

Monday and Friday are shorter days, 2- 4 hours with a start time of 9 am.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are longer days up to 8 hours with a start time of 7:30 am.
